Visit from Members of Piikani Nation & Napi's Playground's School Dance Troupe
Posted on May 4th, 2017
On Thursday, April 27, Sunnyside School's Grade 4 class hosted members of the Piikani Nation and Napi’s Playground Elementary School Grade 4 dance troupe. This visit was part of the Project of Heart for the education and reconciliation and building positive relationships between First Nations communities and non-Native Canadians.
Project of Heart is an inquiry based, hands-on, collaborative, inter-generational, and artistic journey of seeking truth about the history of Aboriginal people in Canada. Its purpose is to examine the history and legacy of Indian Residential Schools and to seek the truth about that history, changing attitudes, behaviors, hearts, and minds as First Nations Elders who attended those schools are given a voice.
